The Dilemma

It was a wonderful day, the board meeting went fabulous, my pending promotion might surely get an approval from the GM.

Banggg !!

Blood splashed across my face, a pregnant lady was just hit by a speeding car. My mind was blank !!
What Should I Do?

My heart was throbbing to help the lady, she was lying their unconscious, but something in me refused to go any further...
Heart: “I must help the lady, she desperately needs my help, the driver had run away, there’s no one around to rush her to the hospital, my heart compelled my conscience to provide a promising hand in the lady’s direction”...
Mind: “NO”, my mind stopped me . How can you help the lady, what about the repercussions ? What if you are proved guilty of harming the lady? What if things turn upside down? What if you might have to a pay a price for the imprudent actions of someone else?
Don’t act silly?? Just sit in your car & head straight home. You wife is waiting, what about all good news you wanted to share with her? What about the vacation you were planning with your family all this while. Stop this non-sense & act smart....
Heart: “ACT SMART?? MY foot !!”-She will probably lose  both her’s & the baby’s life...

I got near her & called for help, a guy helped me take her to the hospital in my car. After 5 hours of operating on her the Doctor white clad, came near me & my wife.
“You saved two life’s today, Mr Sen. Just because of you, we were able to operate successfully on her, a cesarean had to be carried out as she was weak & was not responding completely. The baby & mother are doing perfectly fine.” “You are a lucky wife Mrs. Sen ” , the doctor said in an enticing tone...
We then called the lady’s husband , whose number was obtained by the doctor during the operation. A young guy arrived in no time, he was all red & headed towards the ICU, where the doctor advised him to meet us regarding what all happened to his wife.
He told her ”That Nisha (his wife, the injured lady), was coming back after applying for a maternity leave as his delivery was pending in the course of some days, later when he tried calling her, the mobile was switched off. ”
I told him about what all happened & he kept on saying thank you all this while we were in the hospital. My senses felt soothed, I was really on cloud nine. I won the dilemma; my head & heart faced that very moment. I got rid of all the negativity in an instance when  I heard the doctor thanking me.

We were allowed to visit Nisha the next day, she thanked me & my wife in hushed tones, she had really gone weak after severe loss of blood, but luckily the baby was a healthy bundle of joy, all fair & cute. He was adorable no doubt.
Nisha asked me: “Can, I know the name of my saviour Sir.”

Me: “Kartik" I said  with a winking smile.

Nisha: “We will name our son Kartik, Okay Raj? ” She looked at her husband.

They both smiled to each other.

I was in a cross road, the gravest situation I had ever faced, My heart said “Yes” but my mind refused to go forward. I was victorious...

My wife sat watching me admiringly the whole time I drove her home....

P.S: Based on a true story !!

Dear Diary - A Short Story

Dear Diary - 16th January 2010, 4 am
"One Learns from oneself the most in life" And in today's hectic life , solitude is a rare way to pensively vent out one's thought. I love my solitude and have my private moments at times. I just love to have a book beside me and enrage in my deep thoughts, contemplating on the characters or something else.

She was just about to close her Diary but opened it taking a new page as if describing her worries on a fresh new leaf. She had a I-really-want-to-know-the-truth grin and a twitched eyebrow could have made it clear for anyone to picture that she was gravely tensed.

Dear Diary - 16th January 2010, 4:30 am
Do you think I did the right thing by leaving Ishaan? I should have given him a chance to explain things, but I was convinced he would only lie to me about his stint with Aiyeshaa.
I trusted him with all my heart but when Rajan told me that Ishaan was double dating me and Aiyeshaa, I was flabbergasted at my ignorance.
I know in love you need to trust the one with whom you are sharing every bit of your emotions but is trusting and still not completely having faith the right mix for a desired emotional connect ?

She contemplated for about an hour before shutting the diary and tucking it under her mattress.

For the last 10 days everyone in the library seemed to take notice of a girl who was stuck from Morning 6:30 to evening till 8 in an isolated corner, either engrossed deeply in a book or staring at the table in front of her with a face that wanted to know- what Life is. She was always a miss during her lectures.

Mr. Banerjee threw the chalk right in the air landing exactly on Raima's head. "Yes ! YOU miss Ghosh. Could you please decode the last stanza of The Vile for us."

Raima was a aghast with the gesture and stood up in accordance to show some not so fervent respect to Mr. Banerjee- her English teacher.

She fumbled, merely speaking. At last, she went out at the pretext of not being well for the past couple of days. With a cough just to make it seem real altogether. With Mr. Banerjee, used to such excuses, she was allowed.
She reached home at around 3 in the afternoon and frantically pulled out her diary from under the mattress.

Dear Diary - 28th January, 3:05 pm

I can't let him go, just like that. I want him to at least express the reason of him not being loyal to me. I can't let go off those crazy encounters with Ishaan, those lovely memories lay in my head and keep dancing with a sad face. I just want him back, but How ?

Raima lay asleep , her Diary open , her socks on the pillow, her ink pen leaking on the floral bedsheet . Just as the pen was about to make a thick black rim on the mattress lower end , the doorbell rang.

Raima woke up, went straight to the door. She saw Ishaan standing with a bouquet of roses , trying to follow his gesture with a meek smile.

"Raima", I am sorry. But can you please give me a chance to explain.

Raima couldn't believe her eyes. Was she dreaming !

"Here! These are for you." Ishaan responded.
"Give it to that Bitch....Whom you  kissed so passionately, in front of the whole school" Raima rebuked. She had a firm warning in her voice
"I thought you would give me a chance before accusing me of something so grave."

Without Raima interrupting, Ishaan spoke hastily.

"Let me finish first". He knew Raima was behind him in all anger
"I was not cheating on you. Aiyeshaa was blackmailing me from quite sometime now. She liked me and wanted me to break off with you and make her my girlfriend.
But I was too stern on my part. I said a clear NO. "
She Photo-shoped a picture of us , it clearly appeared that we were kissing and hence the entire school was forced to believe something that was just a rumor and had no reality in it"
Ishaan paused for breath. He started again with a zeal to make his love convince and make her believe that he was the same Ishaan who was head over heels in love with her for the past 4 years.

"I thought you loved me Raima. I thought you would listen to me once. I thought we had the power to fight all odds and judge a situation without settling for the viewpoint of both our hearts put together."
"But you failed me, Raima"

Raima was speechless. She muttered
"But why did you leave me so abruptly. You should have called me. Or come here like you did today". Her voice echoed the disgust at her own self and the love she had for Ishaan.

"I am sorry, but the way you looked at me that day, standing through the hallway, made me realize that we need to part in order to understand each other's worth." He sighed.

"I love you from the core of my heart, deepest of my thoughts, with all vulnerability and strength"
He smiled as she gestured him to sit down

He held her hands in his. She was about to let go but the grip was firm. She sat next to him.

"Raima , I owe you my everything. But believe me. I thought a lot in the past 13 days, it made me realize how much you mean to me, But the way your trust broke held me in an angst that I never knew existed. I was numb from that moment.
I thought that it would get over with time, but the fear of loosing you helped me get in tune with my true self"

"I gathered in the solitude that it's you that I want to spend the rest of my life with and no one else"
Ishaan took out a copy of the photo that held the entire school by storm and marked the tweaked pictures with a red marker. With a closer look Raima could evidently make out that it was not a real click.

"I love you too..."
She ran to her room bringing her diary in the living room and showed Ishaan what she wrote just an hour ago.
He was about to flip the pages when she grabbed the diary from the edge and closed it. Smiling she said... "After marriage, You can read my Diary". She said with a tone full of admiration, love, essence, authenticity , figuring out how her love won.

She hurriedly said.
"You should leave, Maa might come here any moment."

He tip toed form the living room and waved to her once he reached to face the turn on the lane.

Solitude is bliss indeed. I would have never known the essence , the power of my love if the incident and the series of events had not taken an ugly shape. He gleamed with a smile.

Half-Girlfriend : An unrealistic transformation from 5 point someone to this good !

The Book :
Writer - Chetan Bhagat
Priced @ Rs 176, but you can grab the book @ Rs 97 from Amazon
Publisher : Rupa Co. Ltd.

Review : The narration is flawlessly penned down. Addressing the key issues faced by a Bihari Boy making his way in the exemplary St.Stephen's with a Sports quota. A journey of how this truly despo yet determined guy make's his heart wrench for the posh Delhi girl Riya. Riya is smart yet reserved personality who is also successful in getting a seat at Stephen's with her basketball quota similar to Madhav. She is quite succinct to reveal any secrets with any of her friends. She then meets Madhav Jha who despite sharing their love for basketball are poles apart. But that's the magic and how Chetan Bhagat adores this lovely tale, coining the weird half-girlfriend saga. Bhagat has largely transformed a girl-boy relationship who are immature to commit to each other or possibly in dilemma as to whats in store considering the differences in their respective societies with the term half-girlfriend. The story unfolds when Madhav visits Bhagat at one of his trips to Patna for a book launch and hands him the journals of Riya whom he believes is dead by now. It is when Bhagat after innumerable tries of not laying his hands on those torn pages, go past them and calls Madhav again to hear his side of the story. For those who are big fans of Chetan and for those who condemn his genre this is a must try ; as an enormous transition would be evidently felt with this book. The language, emotional connect is immensely enchanting. Without revealing much I would end up by saying that it's a must read this year. So just 5 more days to go.

Snapshot :
A luring boy Madhav ... meets the adorable High-Class Riya
He fells in love with her, thinking that she feels the same. But destiny has its plan- only to leave them apart with Riya marrying a rich NRI and breaking off with him after a while. Only to meet Madhav in Patna where he is taking English classes to impress the Bill Gates foundation for capturing a grant for his rural School in Dumraon- a small town in Bihar. They meet each other by chance and then a series of event entangle them to come really close only to part for ever... With Riya leaving Madhav with her abominable coughing would they ever meet again. Or would Madhav leave her to destiny only to die alone ??

Real Togetherness

A lady goes to a Swami (a saint) and ask what she should do as she has a doubt on her husband. She is suspicious that his husband is having an affair with another women.
The swami retorts : There's an easy to find out. Just take your husband's phone to that lady's house & see if the wifi gets connected automatically. :) ;)

*Gross but hilarious, isn't it *
So this joke was mentioned to give a direction as in how technology has entered our lives in all forms- big & small and has captured us in his vicious traps and no matter how disgusted we are devoting our family time on it we still don't stop the crap. I wonder why !

We all have come across people who insanely keep on answering office calls or texting so called "IMPORTANT" people while as a marriage or that guy who keeps finding a possible signal during the "Pheras" (Hindu traditional wedding ceremony, where the bride & groom pay their rounds in front of the holy fire)

So why aren't we enjoying our time with family & friends , our dear one's whose presence really matters. If you die today would he phone you had treated so preciously moan over your death or you would crave that your family remembers you. Memories are made when we spend small little moments with our buddies, crack unscrupulous jokes & have fun times. Nobody will ever bother to remember you when they find it hard to grasp your last joke or when you were a part of a special occasion . So friends what do we do in such circumstances ? I understand that calls can not be neglected & it's one of the best ways to connect when you are staying away from family.
Yeah that is the thing if you have access to visiting your family at any possibility phone should be the least expense you are bounded with. So better keep that phone away & enjoy the real pleasures of life. That beautiful air which brings back old memories, those innocent kids chattering, fresh flowers blooming, helping or laying a kind hand to someone in need. Staying up with your parents and talking petty things even after you didn't realize it's 4 in the morning.

These little & spectacular things make life not technology. Though I accept the fact how it has made life easier, conceptualizing connectivity & taking it to a whole new level. But have we come closer or parted ways with this so called "Amazing Intervention" which has ripped down our privacy & mode of expressions. Instead of a tight hug & kiss our mother's desire we are left with a smiley to offer?

Where are the technology less-expression more-gifts ? The special-someone's-presents, spending time with those we love the most. We earn to make our lives easier so that once we retire we have both time & money to do what we always wanted. Bu does that mean that we loose on time at our hands, times like family gatherings, wedding where we can find solace from our hectic lifestyles.
I am sure the answer is NO but I am afraid this is what we are doing.
So "Real Togetherness" is not sticking with technology but getting rid from the chains :):)

Love you folks !
